The Search For Snacks
Note: This was written *after* I actually did everything (as it was right before I started working on this website) so a lot of stuff is probably missing sorry ;~;
As you probably know if you have played the game, Yume 2kki has vending machines all over the place. Like literally. As of writing this there are over 500 interactable vending machines scattered around the different worlds according to the wiki. And all of these vending machines gives you one of almost 200 different snacks in the game. Now after using these vending machines and just getting a short animation of a snack, one may think that they are useless. However, if you navigate to the world called Snack Gallery, you will find that many of the snacks you find from these vending machines will appear here. And collecting all snacks for the Snack Gallery awards you with a badge. After discovering this I of course had no other choice that to collect every single snack in the game so that I could get this badge.

At this point of time I had barely any snacks, in fact I had only four (4) different ones. In other words I needed to get to work. Despite the Snack Gallery only requiring 145 of the 196 snacks in the game, that is still a lot. Now of course I could just find a random vending machine and keep buying snacks until I eventually got every single one (most vending machines have a 0.5% chance of giving a any snack). For a while this approach would work, but after a bit you would start getting more and more of the snacks you already have, and when only a few remain you could be rolling for snacks for a very long time. Basically this would require a long time of doing nothing, be expensive and in general be really boring. Knowing my luck I would probably also spend insane amounts of time doing this, so I instead decided to look for the unique vending machines that had a special item-pool. For instance some of them have 100% of giving one special item, some have a small pool of items, and some give different items depending on different circumstances. These can be used to get the snacks you are missing much more efficiently than otherwise. Of these, two of them seemed to be really really useful, the one in Coffee Cup World and the one in Sandstone Brick Maze.
The path to Coffee Cup World was very simple:
The Nexus → Lemonade Edifice → Pulsating Yellow Passage → Candy World → Coffee Cup WorldAnd there wasn't really much to see along the way. Besides that the vending machine was also right besides the place you entered, and its surroundings were also very barren. Basically this trip was had literally nothing interesting to offer and was extremely boring and im not going to talk about it. Luckily the vending machine more than made up for it by being super cool and offering 48 (!!) different snacks depending on what effect you have equipped. This meant that with this vending machine alone I could get over 1/3 of the snacks I needed with very little time and money used.

The second interesting vending machine in Sandstone Brick Maze had kinda the same concept but worse. Like the Coffee Cup World machine you can get different snacks depending on the effect you use. However, only 12 effects actually does something, and instead of the snack being guaranteed, you have like a 25% of getting one of two snacks. At least you have a floating egg guy looking down on you while you buy snacks so you are never alone when buying snacks. Well unless he for some reason screams in agony as you enter and disappears of course (which happened to me the first time I entered).

My experience with this vending machine was a lot worse than the other one. Some of the snacks were fast enough to get, but with others it was a *pain*. For instance with the stretch effect I got one of the snacks *six* times in a row while I needed the other one, with the glasses effect I gave up after not getting snack #107 after getting ten of snack #65, and for the penguin effect I wasted over 4k money without getting *any* of the unique snacks. I'm assuming that something broke with that one as I can't imagine being that unlucky. Either that or the Egg Guy just really didn't want me to get those snacks. No matter if he actually did anything I blame him for this misfortune.
After leaving Egg Guy behind (I hate you and may we never meet again), there wasn't really any other especially crazy vending machines, so I kinda just had to go to a ton of different places, buy a few snacks, and then continue like that. Sadly I don't really remember any of them except for one (and they probably would not be interesting to write/read about anyway).
The place in question is the Travel Hotel. While this location doesn't have a single crazy vending machine, it instead has a crazy amount of unique vending machines (12 in total), which is basically just as good considering how close to each other they are. Besides that it's also just a cool location. The path to the Travel Hotel is:
The Nexus → Toy World → Zodiac Fortress → FC Caverns B → Hidden Garage → Travel HotelThe first part of the route is pretty straight forward, however after getting to FC Caverns B the path is very out of the way. First you need to go to the bottom left corner, and while everything seems completely normal you can do a "glitch" to get to a hidden part of the location.

Going outside theres a singular car hanging around, and if you enter it and try to exit it afterwards, Urotsuki will simply just crash the car instead.

If you would rather go to the Travel Hotel though (understandably) you can instead just chill inside the car for awhile, and then you will fall afsleep and wake up at the Travel Hotel somehow.

The travel hotel is honestly a pretty cool place, and with all the vending machines it's definitely a place you should visit.

Sadly I got a bit too distracted and after waking up I realised that I missed one of the vending machines, meaning I had to go all the way back just for that ;~;. Besides that it was a good experience though.
But so after a lot of effort I have finally collected every snack in the game (or those you need for the Gallery at least) and completed the Snack Gallery. Now I can finally rest again... until I decide to collect all the menu themes at least.
