Bleak Future

[Contains Spoilers]

One of the weirder nexus locations is Urotsuki's Dream Apartments. By entering a door identical to the one for Urotsuki's Room, you will find this world which starts you out in a room almost identical to Urotsuki's Room. However a few differences becomes apparent if you look a bit around, for instance the computer is gone, instead having been replaced by a letter. We'll get more into that later.

What you probably won't notice is that the bed also has changed, and serves as the entrance to a hidden location. If you try lying in the bed, chances are you will find yourself get transported back into your bed in the awake world. Every time you do this though, there is also a small chance (1/64) that you will wake up in an alternative version instead. This place is known as "Bleak Future"

Bleak Future is a bleak and depressing version of Urotsuki's bedroom

Besides being a bit desaturated, this room is identical to Urotsuki's room. Considering the name of the location, this is most likely her room sometime in the future. If you try interacting with the computer in the room, Urotsuki refuses, shaking her head the same was as when you try going out of the front door in the awake world. She doesn't completely refuse though, as there is still a chance (1/10) that she does it anyway, and upon doing this you will be taken to a different room, which has a mysterious boy residing there.

Bleak Future Hoodie Boy
This place is a bit nicer. Who is the boy though?

Interacting with the boy with reward you with two menu themes, #6 and #7, but after that he does little to acknowledge your presence. The room has exit to a balcony just like the one in Urotsuki's own room, end going out there you will see that the view also is the same. This could imply that this boy lives in the same apartment complex as Urotsuki, but as it's a dream it could also very well mean that she simply doesn't know what the view looks like, and it's her subconsciousness filling it out with the one she is familiar with.

Going back inside the room, there are a few other interesting details. On the right of the balcony exit, a portrait of someone is hanging. While there isn't much detail, the clothes and the hair more or less matches that of Urotsuki, making it likely to be a picture of her. Going to the table you will see a letter similar to the one found in The bedroom in Urotsuki's Dream Apartments. Could this be the same letter perhaps?

Though there is no direct mention of Urotsuki's relation to this boy, it's pretty clear that they are important to each other. At the same time it also seems like they are not together physically, as shown by the letters and that Urotsuki gets to this place via her computer, implying that their main way of seeing each other is by using that. The question is then, why has Urotsuki hidden him so far away in her dreams? Just getting to Bleak Future in the first place is a rare event, and even when getting there Urotsuki refuses to use the computer at first, almost like she doesn't want to see him. And who is this boy exactly? There is nothing in the game that could tell us this, but most likely he is a friend, a relative or a lover. Nonetheless, he is definitely connected to Urotsuki in the awake world, one way or another, even if we might never get to know exactly how.

Going back outside to the bleak version of Urotsuki's bedroom, you can go back to lying in the bed. Doing so will turn the room even more run down and decrepit. All the furniture seems to close to falling apart, and none of them are interactable.

Curiously the front door is now open, and Urotsuki no longer objects to exiting it. The outside of her bedroom seems to be in just as bad condition as the inside.

From here you can take two paths. The path to the south leads outside to some sort of balcony, however it feels very off. Not only does the balcony seem to defy physics with how far it extends from the building, a bit away from it another Urotsuki can be seen standing on some floating stairs. The same stairs she uses to jump off the balcony in some endings.

There is nothing you can do here except going back inside. From here if you follow the path to the right, you will be met with a dark ominous room full of beds. Most of the beds having a bump on them, implying that someone or something is lying in them.

I don't like this place...

The middle bed is the only one in good condition, and after upon lying in it a short static noise can be here, followed by a glitched out ending sequence. After this Urotsuki wakes up back in her bedroom. And so you have completed the Glitch Ending.
